Bookzz Review: Is it Scam or Legit?

Bookzz.org was a website where one could download different types of books. This was one of the most popular websites among book lovers. On this website, one could not just read the books but they could also download different books.

The best thing about this website was that one could download different books for free. This website had a very big database. The website had listings and one could search for the books by typing the details in the search bar.

The sad thing is that now this website is shutdown. It seems that there were some privacy issues and is said that the website was not following certain privacy guidelines. It was involved in DMCA. Finally, the website was officially shut down and the subscribers were informed about the same through email.

What site has taken over Bookzz?

The bookzz site is permanently shut down and it won’t be restored ever again, because they were sharing pirated content. So which site has taken over Bookzz is not the true way to ask, since no one was truly taken over…

I see a lot of people here who are promoting B-ok dot Org. I would not trust that site, because again they are sharing pirated content, which is prohibited in almost every country in the world… And also a close friend of mine, got his PC infected with a virus after downloading from that site.

If you are looking for an alternative site like Bookzz website once was you can also use the Bookzz alternative websites for downloading your ebook or novels. I should actaully say, that the alternatives which are provided over there, are completely legal and most of them are for FREE. Stay safe.

If you are interested in the legal alternatives to Boookzz, which are free, here is a great article about that.

Is it illegal to download books or articles from Bookzz?

I imagine most of us on this site have jobs/careers and go to work or work from home. You expect to get paid, right? So do authors.

I’m not a lawyer. My response will be on the morality of the issue.

It’s a simple answer. If you’re not buying the books from a trusted retailer like Amazon or Barnes and Noble or Apple, then the author is not getting paid. So many of these “free sites” charge a monthly fee; so the site gets paid but the author doesn’t. If you have Amazon you know you can share a book to a certain extent; and that’s perfectly fair.

But imagine an author might make $2.00 on a book gross, before marketing costs, editing, promo, etc. But one of those sites “rents” maybe a hundred thousand copies of a top-selling book over and over again gaining fees. What does the author get? Nothing.

On some of my Kindle Worlds novellas I make .68 cents! I love writing for that series. It gives me pleasure to hear back from the readers on how much they enjoyed the stories. But if someone can’t afford to pay $1.99-$3.99 it doesn’t seem right to me. I don’t know about your town but my one Starbucks coffee is more than the cost of any downloaded book that I have ever bought.

It seems morally wrong to me. An author friend who has worked so hard the last 7 years to build a reputation—7 day weeks, 14 hours a day found all his books—50— on a “pirate” web site yesterday. That means more than likely thousands of his books are going out the door/being downloaded and someone else is being paid for them.

According to my research this morning bookzz is an illegal pirating site.

That being said an article on a blog can be re-blogged as long as credit is given. You can’t cut and paste and claim it’s yours. But when someone reblogs my work like last night. This was reblogged to 130,000 followers. I’m super thrilled! The links will take the consumer to my Amazon page and sales will result.

You tell me? Someone worked very hard to produce the work. If you think enough about the book to want to download, pay the author for his/her talent. We must support the arts.

Are books on sites like bookzz legal copies or not? From what sites can I get free legal copies?

Unless the copyright has expired on a book which puts it in the Public Domain, or the author/publisher makes it free for promotional reasons, then you can bet it is illegal to get a copy for free.

A great resource to find good books that are free during a promotion is to sign up for BookBub. They send you an email everyday with books in the genres you like that are free or on sale that day.

Project Gutenburg has tons of free ebooks and is a great source for public domain works.
