Best Animes of All Time 30 Series for Newbies and Veterans 2021

Well, to start with, there’s really a lot of anime around, and what people consider ‘best’ is really subjective depending on their tastes. Personally, I enjoy any type, but I especially love romance series, or plot heavy series.

These are all my opinions! Even so, I still recommend you to try watching any of these. They’re absolutely astounding, and I do not regret every minute I spent with these series.

And, now, my list of the best anime series in the world:

Your Lie In April

Disclaimer: Romance Series!

It’s very plot heavy. The art is absolutely amazing, the attention to detail is impressive, the way they play with colors is remarkable and unique, and I believe this series has invoked emotions inside me that no other series can ever match.

The story focuses on a young pianist, Kousei Arima, his development as he handles the loss of his mother, and his effort to find music once more, aided by a quirky and lively world-class violinist named Kaori Miyazono. Expect tears of joy and sadness, a little bit of melodrama, and a lot of high-class piano and violin music!

Clannad: After Story

I can’t really state much about Clannad: After Story without spoiling its preceding series, really. I’m just going to say that it’s very very good, and there’s a reason why it’s ranked thirteen in MyAnimeList. The first series was good, although it might get a bit boring or weird for some.

The art style, especially the character art, is a bit strange and might put off some people. The eyes are huge, and it will take some time to get used to. But if you can get through the first series and the numerous eye-shaped sinkholes staring at you, then you’re in for an amazing journey.

Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood

In a world where magic is real (known as Alchemy) and is governed by the Law of Equivalent Exchange, two brothers try to regain their body parts after they violate the one forbidden act of alchemy: human transmutation. Bound by steel and magic, they embark on an amazing journey to regain their body with the help of the Philosopher’s Stones, objects that are said to be able to bypass the Law of Equivalent Exchange, and discover many things along the way.

Amazing action, impeccable pacing, a great story with well-built characters. The art style and animation is good for an action anime (where animation quality is very, very important). It sits at #1 on MyAnimeList, and for a very good reason. You won’t regret watching this one.

Self-proclaimed eccentric scientist Okabe Rintarou spends his time inventing ‘future gadgets’, and their latest creation is a microwave that turns bananas into strange green mush.

What they discover next, however, can change the course of history, literally. Armed with a cell-phone and his inventions, the eccentric Okabe, his ally and real scientist Makise Kurisu, and his lab partners, must save the timeline from evil forces working under the shadows to control time forever.

Time travel with a bit of romance and a lot of action. While most people get disappointed by it because of its lackluster early stages, Steins;Gate truly shines when it hits mid-season and the tables turn. From that point onward, expect a lot of amazing things. By the end of it all, you will not be disappointed.

My final recommendation would be a movie, and I’m certain that you know what this is.

Your Name (Kimi no Na wa.)

Two teenagers, separated from each other by a hundred miles of land, start switching bodies, and, inexplicably, love starts to bloom. But all of that changes when they discover that their situation is one that transcends more than just their bodies. In a race against the clock, they must find a way for their love to transcend time, space, and death.

A legendary movie with a great story. The art direction is amazing, and you will never be tired of watching this. (Seriously, you can already see how good the movie looks like from the poster I put up there!) Tears of joy and sadness, moments of hilarity — the whole package is included here. You will not, and I repeat, will not regret watching this. Ever. Sitting at #2 on MAL, there’s a reason why people around the world love it.

Well, that’s the list.

I didn’t type it numerically because i really believe that all them are perfect and deserve equal attention.

Watch them. You won’t feel dissapointed about any one of it. Thank me later when you’re sobbing at 2 AM, incapable of handle the feels.

Cheers, and have a very good time watching!

Which anime series are a must-watch?

Beerus-sama is the best character for me. He is a GOD of Destruction, Eating, Impressions and Comedy.

23. Tokyo Ghoul: (Depressing, but good) This anime is tremendously violent but you’ll like this anime. However, season 3 is a quite complicated and depressing. In this anime, Ghouls are terrifying creatures which feed on human flesh. When Kaneki is almost killed in an attack, he transforms into a half-ghoul, half-human hybrid and is forced to adapt to their lifestyle in order to survive.

Watch it to know how kaneki survives being a ghoul. (He was eating cake in season 3, seriously, what’s going on??)

24. A Silent Voice: (Loud and Clear) A young man is ostracized by his classmates after he bullies a deaf girl to the point where she moves away. Years later, he sets off on a path for redemption.

Watch it to know how Shoya understands Nishimiya’s shape of voice.

25. Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san: (Tease) Having a friend that knows you inside out should be a good thing, but in Nishikata’s case, the opposite is true. His classmate Takagi loves to tease him on a daily basis, and she uses her extensive knowledge of his behavior to predict exactly how he will react to her teasing. Despite this, Nishikata vows to someday give Takagi a taste of her own medicine by making her blush out of embarrassment from his teasing.

Watch it to know how Nishikata become stronger each day.

Update 2:

26. Vinland Saga: (Infinite Potential) A new piece of art from WIT Studio. Thorfinn pursues a journey with his father’s killer in order to take revenge and end his life in a duel as an honorable warrior and pay his father an homage.

In not so distant future, it is going to be another great classic.

27. Noragami: (5 Yen) Its an interesting anime. Manga is good too. A minor god seeking to gain widespread worship teams up with a human girl, he saved, to gain fame, recognition and at least one shrine dedicated to him. Recent manga updates are slow, though.

Read it know why shinki shouldn’t know about his past. (Man, it was horrible and sad.)

28. One Punch Man: (One Punch Man) The story of Saitama, a hero that does it just for fun & can defeat his enemies with a single punch. Stop comparing him with Goku. Because Goku never did push-ups less than 10,000.

Watch how saitama defeats everyone in a punch.

29. Violet Evergarden: (Meaning) Violet Evergarden, a young girl formerly known as “the weapon,” has left the battlefield to start a new life at CH Postal Service. There, she is deeply moved by the work of “Auto Memories Dolls,” who carry people’s thoughts and convert them into words. So begins her journey as an Auto Memories Doll. I am guessing major is alive.

Watch her journey to understand the true meaning of LOVE.

30. Akame ga Kill: (Pumpkin) I didn’t like the ending, they changed it. Manga has a completely different ending, which is more likable. A countryside boy named Tatsumi sets out on a journey to The Capital to make a name for himself and met a seemingly dangerous group of Assassins known as Night Raid. Their journey begins.

Don’t watch, if you can’t handle one of the most dreadful death in anime history.

31. Samurai Champloo: (Sunflowers) It is the long-awaited next project from Cowboy Bebop director Shinichiro Watanabe. Every anime watcher should watch this. Fuu, a waitress who works in a teahouse, rescues two master swordsmen, Mugen and Jin, from their execution to help her find the “samurai who smells of sunflowers.” Champloo means “mixed up” or “Stir-fry”.

Its full of action, comedy, sword fighting and hip hop.

32. Nisekoi: (True Love) Honestly, this doesn’t stand a chance to be in must watch list. Its a bit Ecchi. But, I have never seen an ending as sweet as its. Anime is good to some extent, story build and comedy is good. Just watch the anime and read the manga(if you want). Tbh, I have read many but this hits the spot and is my favourite. The heir to a Yakuza Family is forced to be in a relationship with the daughter of the head of a gangster family to avoid a gang war, much to their chagrin.

It was ranked 5th in Shounen Jump in 2018.

33. Neon Genesis Evangelion: (Berserker) The most controversial, talked about, and yes, impressive anime series ever. A teenage boy finds himself recruited as a member of an elite team of pilots by his father. Good luck with the last two episodes. I highly recommend you to read about it on fandom after watching the movie. I’d like to say, its not easy. XD

Fly me to the moon and let me play among the stars.

34. Soul eater: (Death Lord) The story starts with main characters ‘Maka’ and ‘Soul’, Maka being Soul’s master and soul being the demon weapon. Soul and Maka are one step away from gaining a high title, yet are disappointed when all their passed hard work is wiped clean by one easy mistake. Caution: Ending is really bad. And comedy becomes childish after sometime, yet you should watch.

35. Assassination Classroom: (Koro-Sensei) Its funny and really interesting from the very start. The ending is sad, which you know will happen anyway. A powerful creature claims that within a year, Earth will be destroyed by him, but he offers mankind a chance by becoming a homeroom teacher where he teaches his students about how to kill him. An assassination classroom begins. Also, Karma is second Bakugo. 🙂

Watch it to have lessons from a very unique teacher. He is strong, caring, intelligent and damn he’s fast.

36. Kuroko no Basket: (Respect) The Teiko Middle School Basketball Team. The school that produced three perfect seasons in a row, with five once-in-a generation players, called “The Generation of Miracles.” There was another player who all of them respected… A legendary 6th player. An up-and-coming power player, Taiga Kagami, is just back from America. When he comes to Seirin High School, he meets the super-ordinary boy, Tetsuya Kuroko. Kagami is shocked to find that Kuroko isn’t good at basketball, in fact, he’s bad! Rest is for you, to find.

Just basketball and emotions.

37. Erased: (Try Again) 29 year old Satoru Fujinuma is sent back in time 18 years, to prevent the events leading to his mother’s death, which began with a series of kidnappings in his 5th grade year. Ending is Cliché though. I was happy to see Airi Katagiri in post credits.

Watch his so called “Revival”.

38. Mob Psycho 100: (Psychic) ONE is a legend, I was surprised after watching it. The stroyline is really great. Everyone should give it a try, you won’t regret it. A psychic middle school boy tries to live a normal life and keep his growing powers under control, even though he constantly gets into trouble.

Animation is amazing, and it is made by the same creator as OPM.

39. Made in Abyss: (Journey) An absolutely fantastic anime with solid world-building, likable characters, and a gorgeous art style. A girl and her robot companion search for her mother, who’s lost within a vast chasm. Not for light hearted people.

What’s that lurking in the shadows….?

40. Psycho Pass: (Cyberpunk) Believing in humanity and order, policewoman Akane Tsunemori obeys the ruling, computerized, precognitive Sibyl System. But when she faces a criminal mastermind who can elude this “perfect” system, she questions both Sibyl and herself.

One of the greatest, up with cowboy bebop and GITS.

41. Parasyte: (Decision) 17-year-old Shinichi Izumi is partially infected by a Parasyte; monsters that butcher and consume humans. He must learn to co-exist with the creature if he is to survive both the life of a Parasyte and human, as part monster, part person. A little gross. You’ll probably search for: “Next to You” – OST.

Why does a caterpillar become a butterfly? Best Animes of All Time

42. The Legend of the Galactic Heroes: (Be Patient) Various people, especially two rising commanders, cope with a massive continual space conflict between two interstellar nations.

You will not feel like watching anything else; after watching this masterpiece.

43. Grave of Fireflies: (Struggle) A Beautiful Unforgettable Masterpiece that shows the true cost of war. A young boy and his little sister struggle to survive in Japan during World War II.

You will cry. I don’t recommend it, watching. Those damn stones.

44. Kill la Kill: (Creative) Good anime, confusing in the start. Its an ecchi anime. So not everyone will find it good. A young girl arrives at a school of superhumans to find out the truth behind her father’s murder.

Watch it for Mako’s perfect explantion of things. Best Animes of All Time

45. Detective Conon: (Sherlock) The cases of a detective whose physical age was chemically reversed to that of a prepubescent boy but must hide his true mental development. His knowledge on mystery novels & soccer skills has made him a modern Sherlock Holmes.

Watch it, but there are 379 reported cases. And 41% of episodes are fillers.

46. Pokémon: (GreNinja) Ash should have won the Kalos region Master League. He had become so mature after all the journey from Kanto to Kalos. Follows the adventure of Ash with his Pokemon, Pikachu and his friends to become the Pokemon master.

GreNinja won the Google’s Pokémon of the Year 2020 award.

47. Monogatari Series: (Vibrant) Really can’t describe all; so, for Bakemonogatari: Third-year high school student Koyomi Araragi is human again. Cured of his vampirism, he seeks to help other supernaturals with their problems. Koyomi becomes involved in their lives, revealing secrets in people he once knew.

What is Wondershare Studio? – Is it safe to remove from my computer?

Dfferent stories with a connection.

48. Oregairu: (Hachiman) Ending, again. Very bad, like they doesn’t even give hints. About an asocial high school student named Hikigaya Hachiman with a distorted view on life and no friends or girlfriend. His life change when he was forced to enter the “Volunteer Service Club” by his teacher.

“Hard Work betrays none, but dreams betrays many.” – Hachiman

49. Food Wars: (Master Chef) Yukihira Soma is a teen with a great enthusiasm for cooking. He dreams of surpassing his father, a great chef and restaurant owner, and so attends Totsuki Culinary Academy, a legendary and formidable cooking school for the greatest teenage chefs in Japan.

All about food and comedy. Nothing to say much.

50. Nichijou: (Passion) What to say? It’s hilarious. One of my favourite comedy anime show. A group of students lead normal lives and cope with normal predicaments, but all too often find themselves in abnormal situations.

“If you are always positive, good luck will eventually find you.” – Fe Chan.

This answer has gone too lengthy . I think, I should stop now. XD

What are the top 10 anime I must watch before I die (do not include the famous ones)?

Is it just me or does anyone else feel that so far, almost no title named in this thread really qualifies as “not famous“. (with the notable exception of a few from Sara) Even worse – many of these even seem to be little more than the usual mainstream shounen anime household names.

Alright, then.

I will give this a shot, and make a case for ten lesser-known, often surprising, good titles from the past 15 years that were either obscure (yet good) or stuff that was moderately popular at best, but has been mostly forgotten since…

So, without further ado, here we go.
(Note these 10 are sorted alphabetically, not by rank or anything)

What are the best anime fights of all time?

EDIT: The original question “What anime consistently have the best fight scenes?” should not have been merged with “Which anime has the best fight scenes?” That’s a big change! Be sure to Un-merge these when you can!

Hmm, this is a tricky one. If you count filler than even the likes of Naruto, One Piece, Dragonball and Bleach don’t have a snowballs chance in hell of making the list! I love questions like these! Thanks for asking!

How Geralt of Rivia age Triss, Yennefer, Vesemir, Dandelion 2021

Hunter X Hunter

Let’s get the obvious one out of the way first. The only way you could argue against this are the one sided fights. The Nen system of combat that comes into play not long into the series just begs for interesting combat and the writer really capitalises on this. Some of the fights towards the end, Like Netero VS. Meruem are absolute spectacles to behold!

Attack On Titan Best Animes of All Time

Dear god, the ways in which combat is handled in this series is all over the place! You have man vs. monster, monster vs monster and man vs man.

The weapons, tactics and ability to adapt to the situations at hand are so often the difference between survival in this series.

Fights are VERY ONS SIDED regularly (The lack of information on unpredictable foes is really deadly) but even then you can be sure no effort is spared in making them as spectacular as possible.

Dragonball Z Kai Best Animes of All Time

I did say that the likes of Dragonball didn’t qualify due to filler, however the beauty of Kai is that it’s Dragonball Z with all the filler removed and edited for better pacing. As a stand-alone anime Dragonball Z Kai has consistently great fights. The difference between a spirit bomb charging over a few minutes instead of a few episodes makes a hell of a difference!

Cowboy Beebop

I don’t know if it’s the animation, the charters or the music (It’s probably all of the above) but every Fist fight, shootout, dogfight or chase just feels amazing! Even the most ridiculous fights (like with Andy) are amazing to watch.

What are some good supernatural anime like “Mob Psycho 100”?

Which is the best anime series and why?Originally Answered: What is the best anime series ever made?

In my personal opinion, Fate/Zero is the greatest anime ever made. As the prequel to the entire Fate franchise (and therefore the one I recommend you watch first if you ever get into it), master-writer Gen Urobuchi not only managed to craft a story that perfectly sets up the events of the original Fate/Stay Night storyline, but he managed to do so in a way where he handled the characters BETTER than their original creator, Kinoko Nasu, and that is PRECISELY why that many fans like myself recommend that newbies start with Fate/Zero instead of Fate/Stay Night.

Best Animes of All Time 30 Series for Newbies and Veterans 2021

Don’t get me wrong, I love Fate/Stay Night, but its story and writing just aren’t quite as up to par as Fate/Zero’s, though it at least makes up for it by having better fight scenes (not that Fate/Zero doesn’t have good fight scenes). I should also note that Fate/Stay Night has three routes, which are kinda like “alternate endings”, hence there’s 3 versions of the Fate/Stay Night anime that viewers need to watch once they finish Fate/Zero. Why is that? Well,

the entire Fate franchise is based on the visual novel of the same name, which is kinda like an interactive erotic videogame-novel, and no, the anime does not focus much on the porn scenes. The alternate endings are based on who the main character chooses as his main love interest, which in turn significantly affects the story and its development.

With that said, there’s the 2006 Fate/Stay Night anime that adapts the first storyline (some fans don’t like this version, but most including myself see it as a good adaptation and a solid anime overall); then the 2014 anime that adapts the second storyline (Unlimited Blade Works); and finally the recent trilogy of movies that adapts the third storyline (Heaven’s Feel), the first two movies are out as of this answer’s post, with the third movie coming out in Spring 2020. It is VITAL that you watch all three anime in this order.

And then once you’re done with that, if you want you can also watch Fate Apocrypha (my second favorite Fate anime), Fate Kaleid, Fate Grand Order (which is based on a mobile game, the BEST mobile game I’ve ever played), and Fate Extra.

Best Animes of All Time 30 Series for Newbies and Veterans 2021

But I digress, Fate/Zero is probably my favorite anime of all time as it introduced me to an amazing franchise that, despite being tonally inconsistent depending on who’s writing it, is nonetheless an absolute blast to watch due to the diverse cast of historical figures that are featured. And since there are many high-tier anime currently out there such as Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist, Monster, Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass, Evangelion, Hunter x Hunter (2011), and Berserk (1997) among others, the fact that Fate/Zero topped all of those for me is a major achievement in my book.
